Going Alfresco!

Barbecue or ‘Al Fresco’ areas, as they are being called lately, seem to be increasing in popularity. Many new homes are being designed around them to take full advantage of our fantastic Aussie lifestyle – Is there anything better than spending an afternoon with friends and a BBQ?

There are a few Corian colours that can be used outdoors but Natural Granite is highly recommended. Jim from Central Coast Granite advises the following: any natural granite or engineered stones can be used if the area is undercover. When there are more than a couple of hours of sun, only use natural granite, no engineered stones or marbles. If out in the open, dark coloured natural stone is advised as light stones can be stained by leaves.

Stainless Steel is also another great option for a BBQ area. You can also have a moulded stainless sink & various benchtop thicknesses that will look great for a long time to come.

All joinery for BBQ areas needs to be covered. There are some great choices available & some fabulous looking glass doors that give a great modern twist. Polyurethane, in your choice of colour can be matched to your internal cabinetry giving a sense of continuation and cohesion to your decorating design
